Jonathan purchased land in Ricibucto on February 28, 1855 for sixty pounds from Edmund Powell, Blacksmith, his brother-in-law (Married to Ann, sister of Mary Forster). Also bought land from William Chandler on which he built a house. In September 1856, he sold land to John Reedman, a seaman aboard the Eugenia of Liverpool for eighty-five pounds.
